DescriptionFHWA-NHI-130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques 
3.5 Days of training  

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to: Identify fracture critical bridges, fracture critical bridge members, and fatigue prone details. Categorize contributing factors in the initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks. Perform an intensive, in-depth and thorough Fracture Critical Member inspection. Identify various crack types and assess their impact on the performance of the member. Evaluate, select and facilitate the use of available NDT methods. Recommend a necessary course of action based on inspection findings.
Target Audience: 
This course completion is mandatory for Public and private sector bridge inspectors that wish to inspect fracture critical bridges in the State of Nebraska.  Participants must have completed NHI Course No.130055 -Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges and be certified by the State of Nebraska to Inspect Bridges. This course is not required for inspectors that do not inspect fracture critical structures but can be counted as a required 5-year refresher.
First priority will be given to current Nebraska Inspectors that require this course to maintain certification in accordance with the State of Nebraska procedures & requirements.
